Kyloe Partners, the Orkney-founded recruitment technology company, has appointed Stephen Shorter as its new Chief Financial Officer as the business prepares for its next stage of growth.
Shorter joined the company on 1 July and will work closely with founder and CEO Raymond Pennie to support Kyloe’s strategic expansion across its global markets.
He brings more than a decade of experience from Cobalt Recruitment, an award-winning international recruiter specialising in finance, property and construction. Over his 12 years there, Shorter served as Chief Financial Officer before progressing to Chief Executive Officer, giving him broad leadership experience spanning both finance and operations. A well-recognised figure in the recruitment sector, he has also served on the Representative Committee of APSCo, the trade body representing the UK’s professional staffing industry.
Welcoming the appointment, Raymond Pennie said Shorter understands the sector inside out, as well as the pace at which Kyloe needs to operate. He said having someone who has led finance and operations in a comparable business, who already knows Kyloe well and understands the challenges facing its clients, would make a real difference as the company continues to grow, adding that he was delighted to welcome Shorter to the team.
Shorter said Kyloe was the only place he wanted to go after leaving Cobalt, citing his belief in Raymond Pennie and the wider team’s ability to navigate the technological change currently reshaping the recruitment industry. He added that there was something special about helping an ambitious, Orkney-based tech business grow on the global stage.
Founded in Orkney, Kyloe Partners continues to expand its team locally while building its presence across the UK, US and APAC regions. Shorter’s appointment forms part of a wider development of the company’s finance function, alongside Simone Pennie’s move into a new role as Executive Director and Company Secretary.
