In the U.S., federal initiatives aim to install 500,000 public charging stations by 2030, while China’s subsidies have made EVs more affordable than traditional vehicles in many provinces. These developments signal a structural change in how societies approach mobility.

Closing the Education Gap in EV Technology

Despite rapid industry growth, educational systems have struggled to keep pace. Conventional automotive engineering programs often lack specialized training in EV systems, leaving graduates unprepared for emerging roles. Nova Anglia College addresses this disconnect through its Bachelor of Technology in Electric Vehicles—a degree designed for students without engineering backgrounds.

The industry needs professionals who understand both the technical and conceptual aspects of EVs,” Kaur explains. “Our program teaches students how these vehicles function at a fundamental level, from energy storage to software integration.

What distinguishes the college is its focus on accessibility. Avoiding heavy mathematical requirements, the program attracts students from diverse academic backgrounds, including business and environmental science. Partnerships with automakers like Tesla and BYD provide students with hands-on workshops, allowing them to work directly with cutting-edge technology. This practical exposure ensures graduates enter the job market with relevant, immediately applicable skills.

Building Careers in a Green Economy

Nova Anglia College’s program extends beyond classroom learning. Students gain access to internships, mentorship from industry leaders, and collaborative projects with EV startups.
